Along the promenade

One of the most common applications to monitor, and collect data from, is Underground container. Emptying these is expensive and it is often perceived as disturbing for the residents and visitors in the area in question. Simply a drain you want to do as rarely as possible.

Streamline your Underground container

Is your city paying for the right service? Along the city's boardwalk there are a number of Underground container. Since you do not have any data on how full these containers are, it is difficult to assess the value of the emptying service you buy from an external party.

In this project, Bintel has, with the help of a current situation analysis, highlighted a significant savings potential for this application. We are happy to share details from the project, please contact us for more information.

Background

Along the promenade, several of the city's most popular gathering points are passed, this stretch is equipped with a number of Underground container for Residual waste. The containers have outsourced collection and have been assumed to have strong seasonal use.

The collection is scheduled, at more frequent intervals during the months with expected higher load. Previously, there has been no data on how full the containers are, and the value of the service you pay for is therefore difficult to assess.

Customer demand

In this project, the customer wants to carry out a current situation analysis, and understand the capacity and waste flows in these Underground container. With this data and newfound insights, the customer wants to:

  • Get a basis for being able to trade up the right service
  • Reduce heavy traffic along tourist routes
  • Reduce littering connected to overcrowded containers

Bintel's solution

In this type of analysis, it is important to collect data over a longer period, so that you get sufficient data from both high and low season. Therefore, for a year Bintel has measured the level of containers along the promenade. From this data, the current emptying schedule has been evaluated. This is to highlight the value of data-related insights, as well as to provide the customer with the necessary documentation to effectively trade up the current service.

Results/Achievement of Goals

For the containers in question, the emptying intervals are far too short, this applies to both low and high season.

Without the risk of overfilling, these containers can be emptied half as often. These collection flows are also very well adapted to demand-controlled emptying, as the emptying process itself is very time consuming. So the savings will be immediate in this type of application.
